Between houses or house-hunting? Moving home locally, or relocating into the area…

“When my husband and I were considering moving to the area after we retired, we thought it would be sensible to stay in the area for a while – so we could be sure we wanted to live here, before committing ourselves, and having all the upheaval and expense of moving house.

Being in the area for several weeks at a time made the process of house-hunting so much easier too. We could even go on a viewing the same day – instead of having to book the viewing a fews days to a week in advance and having to ring round to try to book a hotel room for a couple of nights at short notice. (By which time, sometimes the bungalow we were interested in already had offers on it. Or worse, was sold before we even made it to our viewing appointment – which was all very disappointing and frustrating! And a couple of days or so at a time really isn’t enough time to get used to an area and decide if we wanted to be there permanently anyway!

We obviously didn’t want to find a bungalow to rent for six months – which would have been too long to have left our own house. It would also have taken a lot of time and effort organising the utilities, etc. And, we would have had to book a removals company to bring our furniture down here – or buy furniture unnecessarily (that we wouldn’t need – or want – permanently). Sax Short Lets really did provide the ‘perfect solution‘! Whether it was for a week or two months, or anything in between, we could book to stay the length of time we wanted.

The property (single-storey!) was fully furnished and equipped and everything laid on – so we didn’t have to bring anything with us, or waste time organising anything when we got there. And, the Housekeeping ladies were lovely! They cleaned round for us, and changed the bedlinen and towels for us each week – so I didn’t have to do anything much (except the cooking, of course!).”
